BYD’s Huge Ti 9 PHEV Claims Nearly 1,430 Miles of Range

BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao Ti 9 is a full-size plug-in hybrid SUV with a range figure more commonly associated with long-haul fuel stops than family crossovers: the company claims it can cover approximately 1,430 miles, or 2,300 kilometers, on a full charge and tank. The figure was reported by New Atlas following the vehicle’s unveiling at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show in China. It is a claimed combined-range number, with the gasoline engine extending the vehicle’s driving distance after the battery’s electric range has been used. The Ti 9 uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged combustion engine rated at 154 horsepower, paired with two electric motors producing a combined peak output of 536 horsepower. Its 66.5-kWh battery is claimed to provide up to 192.6 miles of electric-only driving under China’s CLTC testing cycle. BYD also says its 1,500-kW Flash Charging system can replenish the battery from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. New Atlas noted that the electric-range figure comes from the relatively optimistic CLTC standard, meaning real-world results could be lower. The outlet likewise characterized the 1,430-mile total as a claim rather than an independently verified result. The Ti 9 is unusually large even by full-size SUV standards. It measures 207.48 inches in length and weighs roughly 2.9 tonnes, according to the report, making it larger than vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7. Regulatory filings indicate that it will be offered with five-, six- and seven-seat interior configurations. Exterior features include 22-inch wheels, concealed-style door handles, connected rectangular headlights, vertical rear lights and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. The vehicle is described as rear-wheel drive and equipped with DiSus-P Ultra hydraulic suspension. Fang Cheng Bao is a China-only BYD brand at present, although some of its vehicles have reached Europe. Domestic sales of the Ti 9 are expected to begin later in 2026.
