A three-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a crocodile enclosure at a Cambridgeshire zoo has returned home from hospital, according to an update from his family.
The child was allegedly thrown into one of the enclosures at Johnsons of Old Hurst, near Huntingdon, on 18 June. The family said he came home several weeks ago and is settling back into daily life, including sleeping in his own bed, playing with his toys and being a big brother.
His immediate surgeries have finished for now, but his rehabilitation is continuing at home. In an earlier update, the family said he had undergone seven operations and that they were attending hospital appointments to plan the next stages of his recovery.
A 30-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident. Police later released him on bail, saying he had been assessed as not fit for interview. The source material does not report any further police action.
The boy’s family shared the latest update through a GoFundMe page established to help with his recovery and support the household financially. The page had raised more than £113,000. The family said donations had helped cover bills, mortgage payments and lost wages while they remained focused on the child’s care.
The family said they were grateful to have everyone back together at home and would continue supporting their son through rehabilitation.
