Kitten Rescued After Falling 10 Feet Into Rusty California Pipe

Daily Weird News Report

A kitten trapped roughly 10 feet below ground in a rusted pipe was rescued by an animal control officer in California, according to UPI Odd News. The Alameda Police Department said Animal Control Officer Crum responded to the Ferry Point area after receiving a report of a kitten in distress. The animal had fallen into a metal pipe in an abandoned field, where its depth made the rescue difficult. After working to remove the frightened kitten, Crum found that it was covered in wet rust. The animal’s paw pads were also injured, apparently from trying to climb out of the pipe. The kitten was given a warm bath and treated for its paw injuries. Alameda police said it was named Rusty. Rusty was then placed in a foster home with an Alameda police dispatcher—the same dispatcher who had initially answered the call reporting the kitten’s distress.
