Wallaby Spotted Hopping Through an English Town Before Dawn

Daily Weird News Report

A wallaby was filmed hopping through the center of Liskeard, Cornwall, in the early hours of Monday morning, giving an English town an unexpected marsupial visitor. Scot Weller, owner of Original Cornish Pasties, said he noticed the animal while driving to work at about 5:30 a.m. He initially mistook it for a dark-colored German shepherd because of its large ears, but quickly realized it was hopping along the road. Weller recorded the wallaby as it passed near a Spar shop and followed it for a time. He later posted the video on his business’s Facebook page and said he intended to alert the RSPCA or police about the sighting. He eventually lost sight of the animal. Devon and Cornwall Police attended the neighborhood but were unable to locate it. An RSPCA spokesperson said England has an established wild population of wallabies, linked to multiple escapes from captivity over the years. The organization said the animal seen in Liskeard could have been a wandering wild wallaby, although it may also have escaped from a private collection. The wallaby’s whereabouts were not reported after the search.
