Michigan Woman Finds Neighbor’s Python Hiding in Her Pole Barn

A Michigan woman got an unexpected visitor when she opened the pole barn on her rural property and found a large python inside. Hannah Snay discovered the snake Monday in rural Grant Township, in Newaygo County. She told WOOD-TV that she screamed and kept her distance, but believed the animal was someone’s pet rather than a wild snake. Snay posted a photograph on Facebook to help locate the owner. The python was then placed in the care of Newaygo County Animal Control Deputy Chloe Flora, who identified it as nonvenomous. The snake’s arrival at the county offices reportedly caused some unease among deputies. Newaygo County Undersheriff Chad Palmiter said Flora brought the python into the squad room, prompting several deputies—including Palmiter—to scatter. She was subsequently told to return the snake to her truck. The Facebook post led to a reunion with the animal’s owners. Snay said they were neighbors and that she was relieved the python had been returned to its family. She also said the snake appeared to be well loved.
