Alberta Dog Sets Record by Leaping Across 56 People in 16 Seconds

An Australian shepherd named Chardonnay turned a baseball game in Alberta into an unusual record-setting event when she bounded across the backs of 56 people arranged in a straight line. The attempt took place June 14 during a game hosted by the Edmonton Riverhawks, an amateur summer collegiate team in the West Coast League. Fans stood in the outfield as Chardonnay moved from person to person, using their backs as stepping points. The Guinness World Record rules allowed one minute for the challenge: the most jumps between people by a dog in that time. According to UPI Odd News, Chardonnay completed the course in just 16 seconds. Chardonnay is owned by dog trainer Jennifer Fraser, who said she began teaching the Australian shepherd to jump onto her back several years ago. The dog’s abilities later expanded beyond that original trick, with jumping across people’s backs becoming one of many skills in her repertoire. Fraser also indicated that the record may not be the dog’s final attempt. She said they were considering trying to break it again.
